Oh yeah, remember what I said two posts ago about how we should not cut off health care to poor or even illegal or even prisoners just to save money. The argument being that it was like cutting off your nose to spite your face. I, then, used the example of how TB (tuberculosis a potentially fatal and highly contagious disease spread by cough or sneeze) scare has hit a local high school twice in the last year prompting the testing of over 500 students, families, teachers, and employees. Well, in case you thought TB was like a disease of the past and the last guy to die of it was Doc Holiday in Tombstone, read this article and think again.

RIO DE JANEIRO - The number of people infected with both tuberculosis and HIV is twice what researchers previously thought, top health officials said Tuesday.
The World Health Organization’s annual report on TB, presented in Rio, indicates that there were 1.37 million cases of people with both TB and HIV in 2007, the latest year for which statistics are available. About 700,000 people were infected with both in 2006, according to a report released by WHO last year.
